Let’s sum up Reiki in a nutshell….

What is Reiki, and how does it work?

It was proven by Einstein and Newton, that all things, both living and material, are made up of matter and energy.
As an example, sometimes we walk across a floor and get zapped when we touch, lets say, a door knob. That is energy! Electrical current, if you will. Or if you are standing in line and the person behind you is too close, their energy field bumps into your energy field, and you just want to shout at them "Would you mind stepping back a bit, you're in my SPACE". That is our energy interacting with their energy.

So what does Reiki do, and how does it work?

A Reiki Practitioner has been cleared of any built up "muck" in their pipeline of energy flow. This is done by being attuned by a Reiki Master.
This "cleaning of the pipeline" allows the energy, (basically of the universe, or source, or God, or whatever you want to call it: Mother Nature??) to flow at full capacity. So now that the energy is flowing at its optimum, the person or animal can feel the energy pouring from the Practitioner to them. Animals don't know anything about the placebo effect, or the use of "positive thinking", they just live by habit and instinct. Once they feel the energy, they relax and let it kind of soak into them. We all know they can feel a bad person from a mile away. That's the negative energy they feel. They also seem to relax around certain people. That's the positive energy they feel. People are the same.

Sorry, don't want to make this into a novel....

Anyway, we all know that when we get a cut on our hands, that our bodies heal itself. We can "see" this happening. We also know that when we get the flu, our bodies are able to kill off the bad bacteria or "bug", and we may not "see" this happening inside our bodies, but we do get better. This is energy, and self healing. So...we see when a pet gets a cut, that it heals, and if they get an upset stomach and the runs, they will heal themselves. Same as us. If we are freaked out about something, and our nerves are shot, we can sit down and concentrate on relaxing. We can do breathing exercises, we can "zone out", whatever, we can calm ourselves down. Animals usually need a bit of help with this one. Sometimes it’s the "herd or pack" that calms them down, sometimes it’s the pet owner, and sometimes it's a stranger.  Reiki Practitioners can increase the amount of positive energy flow so that the person/pet is able to better heal itself, emotionally, physically or even spiritually.

Reiki is NOT the miracle healing of the practitioner, we ARE NOT miracle  healers per se; we are just the channel for the energy to flow through so that it can be directed at a stronger, more specific point. We ARE NOT vets or doctors, we do not diagnose. Reiki energy flows to where it is needed most. It just knows. The cut on our finger just heals. It grows new skin. We do not grow new skin on our ear, when the cut is on our finger. Mother Nature just knows where we need the healing to be done. I don't know how she knows, she just knows. That my friend, is and always will be her little secret.

Anyone can do Reiki. They just need to be "attuned", i.e. clear out all of the issues that they themselves carry around in life, such as fear, stress, sadness, anxiety, etc. Once someone is attuned, they are taught the different hand placements of Reiki, to ensure that anything "stuck" inside the client's body or mind, is being focused on.

Reiki can be done in person, or by distance. If an animal is too nervous to allow a person to come near, Reiki can be done from a distance. As Reiki is not human made, it can be done via the energy frequencies of the airwaves. If we can speak to someone via airwaves on the cell phone, we can send energy to someone the same way.
Okay, that's about it in a nut shell. If there are any questions, please ask! I could talk about the benefits of Reiki all day!
